Some things I’ve missed
In the time I’ve been taking to get settled in my new life, in addition to not keeping up with my own site, I’ve been rather out of date with some of my favorite designers/bloggers/whatever they’d like to call themselves. Today I played some catch up.
Phil Renaud is missing
J Wynia got the shake down from the IRS, but all is well because he ended up getting money out of the deal. I’ll be shaking the IRS down myself soon, I just got some returns and they shorted me. Also, both these guys have been added to the 9rules network so a belated congrats.
Dave Seah is as organized as ever, and judging by his header has decent taste in scotch. Try the mcallen 25, right now i’m loving some talisker.
Sonspring is down at the moment, but I can get my fix in the mean time from the new Geniant blog. Dang if Genient isn’t lucky to have the Dimon, Christensen, Smith powerhouse trio. Jared’s also loving Blonde Redhead’s 23. This might be my favorite album of the new year so far.
Brainfuel’s always good for introducing me to new sites and premium linkage.
And Wolfgang’s got a great new redesign.
Miranda July’s new site for her upcoming book is getting a lot of buzz. I fell in love the moment I saw it, it’s unfortunate that a lot of people are dismissing it as gimmicky. It’s interesting to see the different perspectives people have on her based on whether she was first introduced to them as a musician, performance artist, or filmmaker. For me the order was precisely musician»writer»performance artist»filmmaker, which may not exactly be the “correct” order. Regardless, I think Miranda July is probably the most creative person around right now and I can’t think of any other people who wear so many hats so well.
Some notes about my own redesign. I was going to make the site really wide. I’ve decided not to. I think I’m going to take the resist logo out of the header and put it in the sidebar.
