Actually getting some work done on the site
There’s been a little extra dirt the past few days because I’ve been doing some major revamping of both the Wordpress back end of my site, and the visual layout of different categories of posts. You may have even seen the site down a few times, thanks to my mad PHP skills. I hope my sarcasm isn’t lost over the internet. I’ve introduced a friendly way of displaying reviews, tweets, and remaindered links.
I feel like I’ve really gotten to know Wordpress and PHP more than I ever have in the past few days. I set up some custom fields for doing music reviews, and added some nifty PHP statements to my loop to automatically display the nice star rating for me. I’ve really been taking advantage of a lot of the Wordpress resources out there, so I feel like I’m going to have to post a Colophon when I’m all through just to say thanks for all the help.
Unfortunately I haven’t had a chance yet to set up the nice formatting on the single post pages, so that will probably be coming next, hopefully over the weekend. Then I plan to roll out each section of the site one by one, until I’m finished. (Top priority perhaps the greeked out homepage haha.) I still have to figure out how the news section on the home page is going to handle remaindered links and reviews, meaning how I am just not going to display them there because it’s too messy.
