Update

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

I feel like I’ve updated everything I own. Today I upgraded to WordPress 2.3, updated Mint, several Peppers, updated the iPhone, and replaced my Adobe CS2 & Macromedia 8 Suites with CS3. Surprisingly, it went off without a hitch. If you experienced any outages on the site Saturday, it was due to the maintenance.

Debating purchasing Flickr Pro account and upgrading WordPress. Don’t want to break my install. # Backing up WordPress, don’t breathe or it might break. # WordPress upgrade went fine but tags don’t work. Anybody with a modded loop experience this? # Jeebus how long does it take to update iPhone firmware? Pls do not brick […]

WordPress: why is your delete shortcut so similar to when I accidentally type Control+N instead of Cmnd+N from being on a PC all day? Agh! # Just how I envisioned my evening, cleaning ink stains out of the carpet. Thanks for eating that pen dogs. # Hack Day presentations. # Back to work. # overheard […]

LA Ink: Episode 8

Friday, September 28th, 2007

Kat’s 5 hours late which is completely unacceptable and unprofessional for any artist let alone supposed shop owner. Were she working for anyone else she would’ve been fired- again. She continues the show’s trend of only tattooing celebrities, presumably to keep the ratings up. After making the guitarist of My Chemical Bromance and his hired […]

Preparing for a very long day tomorrow. # Today is Hack Day at AG. # Hack day is going almost too smoothly so far. # I love Fireworks but its aliasing on a PC is so so crappy. Hopefully this is improved in CS3. It’s pretty at home on my Mac. # Enjoying the Onion’s […]

Seven Dollars Could’ve Saved At&t a Customer

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

When I bought my iPhone I’d read of other people’s woes attempting to activate it with their current GoPhone account. After some research I concluded it would be best to activate the phone, create a new account, and then call to have my old account closed with the balance transferred to my iPhone. It seemed […]

The grossest scariest millipede ever just went m.i.a. in our house! # This lady is worried if her ying yang tattoo is upsidedown she’ll have bad karma. She says her other tattoos get her lots of play. EEA. # At&t is still charging me for the account I closed when I opened my new iPhone […]

Trial By Fire in Online Business

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

As self-publishing on the web becomes easier, so does starting an online business. Hundreds come and go every day, but what’s surprising to me is how many people throw in the towel not long after starting. “If you build it they will come” does not apply here. Just because you build it doesn’t mean anyone […]

At bar all are screaming about Rose Melberg. # Stayed up too late last night with too much to do this week. # Want to strangle someone at Illuminating Company. # Gross, the Today Show is Twitter spamming me. They even manage to make a Twitter page look nasty. # @creativejuice I think my dog […]

Fracture

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007
Rating: 2.5 of 5 stars

That’ll be the day when public offices are all equipped with Apple computers. Aside from being terrible all around, one particular part of this movie left a bad taste in my mouth, the notion a senior level lawyer at a powerful firm would immediately throw herself at a handsome, young new hire. Why is it […]

A Better Lakewood

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

I moved to the city of Lakewood, because it offered a lot of the amenities of living in the city (what with being 5 minutes away from down town) while still maintaining many suburban qualities. It reminds me of the small town I grew up in until I was 10. The neighbors are friendly, there’s […]

Must be the only person who thinks Family Guy jumped the shark as soon is it was brought back and is subsequently terrible. # Sites which resizes browser windows should be removed from web design galleries. Resized windows are the antithesis of good user experience. # At&t sent me a text informing me picture messaging […]

Pathfinder

Rating: 1 of 5 stars

If I had a half star rating this would’ve received it. I was willing to put aside historical inaccuracies for dazzling visuals, but there were none. I’m not sure which was worse, the writing or the effects. Why did the vikings speak Icelandic but the Native Americans spoke English? The whole thing was like watching […]

Chile attempts to make up for never bringing Pinochet to justice. Chilean authorities have extradited former Peruvian President, Alberto Fujimori.

Monday, September 24th, 2007

Geeks of Doom on Good Luck Chuck To start, this movie is so insatiably sexist that it just ASSUMES that women are so eager to enter into a life of indentured servitude, cleaning the shit stains out of dude’s drawers, and birthing their spawn that they will enter random sexual encounters on just the OFF-CHANCE […]

MTV’s My Super Sweet 16 may have sparked an S.E.C. investigation. Probably not a good idea to spoil your rotten child on national television when the stockholders are asking questions.

Remembering My Mother

Saturday, September 22nd, 2007

We hear a lot about breast cancer and AIDS, but rarely do we hear about the number one killer of women in America; heart disease. One year ago today my mother, a seemingly healthy woman, was lost to a heart attack. She’d had a physical only a month before wherein her doctor told her she […]

Did some maintenance on the site finally. This list from Digg of the top 15 console RPGs of all time is totally bunk. There’s no mention of Final Fantasy VII which is unarguably the greatest RPG ever made. There’s also no mention of The Legend of Zelda (I don’t care what this person says it’s an RPG) or Secret of Mana, which […]

Ayn Rand and the Fortune 500

Friday, September 21st, 2007

The New York Times has an article today about how the business decisions of Fortune 500 execs are often secretly influenced by Ayn Rand. Funny this article should come up, because I was recently thinking about how relevant her work is in the advertising world. I was watching an episode of Mad Men the other […]

To Click Here or Not to Click Here

Friday, September 21st, 2007

Click here is one of the many banes of my web existence. It’s taken as common knowledge these days that click here as anchor text simply isn’t best practice, and we should instead be using contextual, meaningful copy. Yet lately I’ve been seeing a backlash, in the guise of usability improvements. Yes, click here text […]

Site Housekeeping

Thursday, September 20th, 2007

As per the advice of my buddy, who runs iFlexStudios.com – I did some light cleaning this evening and installed the Optimal Title plugin, the Google Sitemaps plugin, and cleaned up my archives and category pages. I still have a few kinks to iron out in categories (losing the date on remaindered links), and while […]
