Autumn Trips to the Park

In an effort to try and make the most of Fall, Alana and I have been taking the dogs to a lot of fun outdoor activities. Sunday we went back to Bow Wow Beach, and Monday afternoon we visited Kendall Hills in Boston Township / Peninsula. Both were a great chance to try out my new iPhone and I was really impressed with the quality of pictures it took. I set up a new Flickr account so I’d have a place to show them.
I’ve been getting inundated with visitors at my site who searched for Bow Wow Beach. Unfortunately, the park doesn’t have its own website. I wrote them to offer my services pro-bono since I love the park so much, but I was informed as they’re officially maintained by the city of Stow they’re relegated to the city’s website. I wasn’t able to find any more information about the park via the website, so here’s the address for anyone who’s looking:
Bow Wow Beach (Silver Springs Park)
5070 Stow Rd.
Stow, OH 44224
If I find out additional information about their hours and when they’ll close for the Winter, I’ll be sure to post it. I have a Bow Wow Beach photoset on Flickr, you can get a pretty good idea of how large the park is.
The other park we visited is Kendall Hills (On Quick Road), which is close to Boston Mills if you’re familiar with that area. It’s not a dog park, but it has great rolling hills which are far enough from the road for safe off-leash doggie play. They have several trails, which runners were taking advantage of. If you follow these trails past the hills there’s a lake surrounded by woods. It’s pretty muddy so letting the dogs run wild here probably wasn’t the best idea, they smelled like a bog on the way home haha. The whole park is gorgeous, and I can’t wait to go back on a day when I can stay longer and maybe bring a picnic. Definitely worth the trip for anyone in Ohio looking to spend some time outdoors. I also have a Flickr photoset of Kendall Hills if you want to see what the park looks like.

This site is wonderful! Your entries about trips to parks and similar outings makes me wish I lived nearer; two hundred fifty or so miles too far for me to bring my Lady von Danemark. She would LOVE to play in such a place, run and sniff to her (huge) German shep heart’s content. Your comment about your next dog being a pit-bull was interesting. I just commented on a site yesterday from Colorado (?) supporting the breed against the biased and poorly-researched laws banning ownership of bulls and other ‘dangerous’ breeds. (Read ‘dangerous and uninformed OWNERS) My personal rant here: ‘dangerous’ breeds are misjudged; it’s the poor abused or tragically neglected large dogs who are victims of ignorance. Yes, there is such a thing as a ‘bad’ dog but not a ‘bad’ breed. Loads of ‘bad’ owners who should not be allowed to have a pet!

Thanks for the kind words Noni
I absolutely agree about dangerous and uninformed owners. It’s such a shame people get these animals for all the wrong reasons.
