Amy Sedaris in Akron

Next Wednesday, October 17th, Amy Sedaris will be giving a talk at the Akron Public Library at 7pm. Afterwards she’ll be signing copies of her NY Times best seller, I Like You: Hospitality Under the Influence. I Like You is filled with recipes, and such advice as:
A good trick is to fill your medicine cabinet with marbles. Nothing announces a nosey guest better than an avalanche of marbles hitting a porcelain sink
Sedaris is most noted for her Comedy Central show, Strangers With Candy, whose main character, Jerri Blank was based on 60’s cult motivational speaker, Florrie Fisher. (Check out Florrie Fisher on Youtube, it’s totally worth it.) Sedaris had a long running advice column in The Believer, frequently writing as Jerri.
Last week she was interviewed by Scene magazine, and has a new HBO hospitality series in the works which looks to be less Martha and more Brini Maxwell. If you haven’t seen her on Martha Stewart, I highly recommend it. Also just for fun, here’s a brief feature about her killing roaches in New York Magazine.

i wanted to like strangers with candy but i could never get into it. after that quote, however, ill check out her hbo series.
You know, the first few times I watched it I really hated it. But the more I watched it, the more hilarious it became.
