Black Mountain at the Grog Shop
Canadian psych/sludge rock outfit, Black Mountain, easily has the best live show I’ve seen in the last 3 years. They took Cleveland to the moon and back. It’s a shame they had to be opening for the Walkman, between this and the baseball game their set was cut down to about 30 minutes. This is a band of virtuosos, you will find only adept instrumentation here. The entire Grog Shop vibrated with cacophony, and then the band said thank you and quietly exited the stage. The set was mostly new songs, suggesting their second full length will bear a more distinct space-rock sound. Also worth noting, the band has with them a tour only 12″ EP.
