Garrett Dimon has a great article today called Creating a Visual Language. As his example he highlights Amazon’s great use of color and iconography. It’s so important to have this thoroughly planned from the get go, especially in large scale enterprise sites

Garrett Dimon’s article about ‘Creating a Visual Language’ is extremely informative and offers his own interpretation of what colours and typefaces work well together. He also discusses how Amazon’s use of buttons appeals to its user. As a designer myself, I know how challenging it can be to plan a design and follow it through. Garrett has addressed what variations work and gives his thoughts and feelings about how user-friendly Amazon’s buttons really are. Overall, this is a great read. It would be nice if a follow up article was included to look at other well-know companies online.
