Guitar Hero 3 for Wii

My initial thoughts in playing Guitar Hero 3, were how different it is from the Playstation version. There seems to be a pretty big lag, and our attempts to calibrate the lag only made it worse.

The changes to the guitar control are mostly welcome. The body is now heavier, which provides more balance when playing. The fret buttons are more responsive and significantly quieter. They don’t feel like they’re going to break after a long session. The addition of an analog stick makes navigating the Wii menus outside the game easy. The whammy bar is also more stable, and mostly stays where you put it now.

I don’t much care for all the feedback the guitar provides, however. The controller vibrates when Star Power is activated, which is just kind of annoying. If you’ve played other versions of the game, getting used to hearing missed notes on the actual Wiimote is strange also. I’m considering buying more Wiimotes so I don’t have to take them out of the guitar every time I want to play another game. Additional guitar controllers aren’t available yet, which strikes me as bizarre since supposedly the new battle modes are one of the best features of the game. I wouldn’t know since I didn’t want to spend another $90 just to get a controller and discard the game.

I only had time to get halfway through the game so far, but I like most of the songs. The animation isn’t really an improvement over previous versions, which is kind of disappointing since I had the other games for PS2. I also hate the boss levels, they seem completely counterintuitive to the spirit of the game play. Overall it seems like more attention was focused on getting a large quantity of songs than actually improving the game.

eh dude, you can turn off the remote volume by pressing home, then controller options or something. I hope you have figured this out by now.
