From Wired yesterday: Vinyl May Be Final Nail in CD’s Coffin. Finally record labels and the media are starting to comprehend what music enthusiasts have known all along.
Matador and other labels include coupons in record packaging that can be used to download MP3 versions of the songs. Amory called the coupon program “hugely popular.”
This is a huge step in the right direction, and I hope other large independent labels and imprints will follow in Matador and Merge’s footsteps. Giving consumers digital and tangible copies of their music achieves this.
