November Cleveland Web Standards Meetup
I finally had a chance to make it to one of these meetups, in spite of inclement weather and parking in the wrong lot. I’ve been wanting to go for quite some time, but illness/client work/weather has always prevented me from doing so. Not to mention, once I get home and settled on Tuesdays it’s pretty hard to drag me back out of the house, especially when the dogs give me their “But you’ve left us here all day!” guilty looks.
I had a good time though, so it won’t be hard to keep going. It was nice to put a face to some names. One of the folks I’d already met at An Event Apart. Brad Colbow gave a great introductory talk on CSS, explaining ways to get started using it, and some of it’s advantages. I liked the look of his example site a lot, it’s nice to see a fellow illustrator. I also got to meet Brendan, and a few of the members are also Twitterers. It’s a really diverse group with all different skill sets. I’m disappointed I had to miss the PHP and microformats talks, I could’ve learned a lot.
I am hoping the AG crew will be giving a brief presentation on the sliding doors technique next month. I look forward to future meetups and possibly collaborating on some of the pro-bono projects, schedule permitting. It’s great to finally have some sense of a Cleveland web community! If you’re from the group and finding this do add me on Flickr/Virb/LinkedIn/Twitter/Etc ![]()

It’s too bad you had to take off right after the presentation, next time you’ll have to actually hang out a bit!
I know, it’s like the meetup is always a magnet for rush jobs for me! Hopefully next time won’t be the case.
