New Music for Spring

Pitchfork has posted a guide to upcoming spring releases.

In no particular order I’m excited for:

  • Acid Mothers Temple
  • Boredoms
  • The Breeders
  • Clinic
  • Envy (DVD)
  • Microphones (reissue & new)
  • Shout Out Louds
  • The Gossip (live)
  • Make Believe
  • Bellafea
  • The Black Angels
  • Free Kitten
  • Joan of Arc
  • The VSS (reissue)
  • Ellen Allien
  • Ladytron
  • Shearwater
  • Silver Jews
  • Tilly and the Wall
  • Liz Phair (reissue)

I’m probably most excited for the new Ladytron album.

I saw Tilly and the Wall years ago in Pittsburgh (with Bright Eyes, of course), and was somewhat perplexed by them. I hear they’ve undergone a big change for this album, so it should be interesting.

I wanted to catch The Breeders (whom I’ve never seen live) on their current tour, but Cleveland venue + weekday = no show for me. :(

Yeah Tilly & the Wall has a pretty good new video floating around, it’s definitely different but still indie pop. I don’t think I’d go see them live because of the crowd they draw.

I saw the Breeders twice on their “reunion” tour and they were really great shows, but they were packed and the crowd was really weird and hostile at both venues. Since I’ve seen them several times before I don’t know if I’ll go again, but they are worth it if you haven’t.

A crappy crowd of people can totally ruin a show for me.

Acid Mothers Temple are a big fave. Lovin’ the beards and hair!
