No Country for Old Men

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007
Rating: 4 of 5 stars

I wanted to give this movie a 4.5, but I just couldn’t. I love everything the Coen brothers did with this film, and I loved the acting, but I don’t really love the writing of Cormac McCarthy. I enjoy it, but his stories seem to end in the same place they began, and coupled with […]

Infamous

Rating: 4 of 5 stars

If you’re going to see one movie about Truman Capote, see Infamous. Capote presents the story with little context in which to consider it, and whitewashes over Capote’s flamboyant charm and eccentricities which allowed him to gain his position in society and access to gossiping Kansas families, and ultimately the murderers themselves. Shout Out Louds

Our Ill Wills is the outstanding second full-length from Swedish indie-poppers, Shout Out Louds. Zodiac

Rating: 4 of 5 stars

Zodiac was the scariest movie I’ve seen since Silence of the Lambs or Seven. I can’t believe I didn’t hear more about this when it came out. Though I don’t think Robert Downey Jr. pulls off the deadpan thing very well.

Laura Veirs

Rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was holding out for the vinyl release of this until I saw the awesome cd packaging. It should also be noted that Laura Veirs puts on a phenomenal live show, even when it’s just her and a loop pedal.
