I saw this on Stereogum today and had to repost. The first time I saw this band (I think with the Gossip?) my initial thoughts were “Yeah I liked Kill Rock Stars in 1994 too” but I got a few of their records and they’re a solid, fun band.

Possibly the best album ever released by any band after a 13 year break. 2007 is the return of twee.

Harptallica. Metallica songs (only the old good stuff) but the shredding is done on harps instead of guitars. I will definitely have to check them out when they’re in town.

Though Time Magazine tells me punk started in 1977, this masterpiece recorded in 1973 begs to differ. If you’ve never heard this classic album you’ve been living under a rock, go buy it immediately.

I was holding out for the vinyl release of this until I saw the awesome cd packaging. It should also be noted that Laura Veirs puts on a phenomenal live show, even when it’s just her and a loop pedal.

I like the idea that, because of downloading, people are going to buy songs only if they are good. I think that’s a positive thing. It means lazy bands aren’t going to get away with giving you one hit single and an album full of filler.

This is the latest release from Melbourne trio, Love of Diagrams. The album is more vocal heavy than its predecessors, and reminds me a lot of Electrelane’s The Power Out. It’s a perfect listen for a rainy day.
